NewsThe Gossip provide Glastonbury 2007 with fitting climaxThe Gossip have brought Glastonbury to a suitable climax tonight (June 24) with the closing performance of 2007 on the John Peel Stage Packing out the tent, Beth Ditto put in a star turn to rival Shirley Bassey's Pyramid Stage turn earlier this afternoon. With the singer commanding the stage, and the crowd's attention, 'Listen Up' had festival goers dancing in the mud for one last time. However, as predicted, it was a storming version of the band's signature tune 'Standing In The Way Of Control' that provided Glastonbury with a worthy climax. To relive the festival go to NME.COM/festivals/glastonbury now. Phil Spector trial: Day 15 The coroner who conducted actress Lana Clarkson's autopsy was cross examined in court today (May 30) during Phil Spector's murder trial, which continued (May 30) in Los Angeles. Dr. Louis Pena admitted that medical findings could not determine who held the gun that fired the bullet killing Clarkson. Spending his second day on the stand, Pena was cross examined by defence counsel Christopher Piourd, who is attempting to prove that Clarkson accidentally killed herself. Renowned producer Spector is accused of murdering actress Clarkson on February 3, 2003 at his Los Angeles mansion. The defence contends her death was suicide. "Let's get it very basic. You can't tell who was holding the gun?" Piourd asked the coroner. "That's correct," Pena responded. Yesterday Pena clearly stated that Clarkson's death was a homicide, but today admitted that there were limits to the scientific evidence. Pena also said today that Clarkson had gunshot residue on her hands, but clarified that it does not prove that she was holding the gun, reports the Los Angeles Times. "There are two ways to look at it," Pena said. "It implies the person could have been holding a weapon at the time of discharge or could be in the vicinity." |
